Here another of my grandmothers. I’m really not a lucky one (should it really be true that GrMa is a password to any high positioned intelligence office? I always hope not, but angels do seem notto listen to my hopes anymore ….) She has been reading with greatest interest my extremely interesting articles for the last 7 days, plunging even into an internal self discovery procedure without more results than the following: she has very similar features with someone called Heleni, in Greece, who at that time was about 32 (must be 35 now). She didn’t really solve the question of how to define empathetic in a congruous way, and asked herself whether the fact of misleading people into fiction could not be at the origin of the development of schizoid tendencies … In order to read fiction (yes, she is really younger than me, but it doesn’t matter), you need to have deep schemes of interpreation allowing the registration of information in general patterns, otherwise, long life to neuroleptics … In any case valuable as attempt of research, although I still couldn’t gather how they’d proove the one or the contrary. Who was first, the egg or the hen? (Spaniards ask.)

Mar, a psychologist at University of Toronto, shows in a recently published article that exposure to narrative fiction is positively associated with improved social abilities, a correlation not shown for non-fiction reading. Conceding that this subject has been understudied and that a causal direction has yet to be established, Mar concludes, “Should future work determine that fiction-reading interventions yield improvements in empathy, stories could prove a powerful tool for educating both children and adults about understanding others, an important skill currently under-stressed in most educational settings. If it proves to be the case that the causality of this relation is reversed—that being more empathetic predisposes people toward reading fiction—we will still have learned something interesying about fiction, and about empathic personality.”

Now, Sask, would you have ever understood this is a message of polar bear? Has it anything to do with quanta? Now, that’s for you, little polar bear: is the wave the photon or the vehicle of the photon? If there are very fine frequencies in the universe that do spread some kind of ‘looks like’ particle, would you have less problems in understanding that: the clear separation of genders does happily contrive to general happyness? Boouf, polar bear, I was really missing our high peaked conversations …

Do you want to know what happened? Russian: enter or ‘enter’? You write enter on the screen, or you push the ‘enter’ button? If you push enter (eskay signs), and Sasks writes eskay, enter eskay, you’ll have done it, dear. If this is not an extraordinary example of a subliminal message… Don’t look at the camels in the middle of the desert, although! If you don’t read Israel in ‘isthis4real’, you know nothing but really nothing about coded messages. Now what is the 4, for? Exactly — what 4, otherwise written ?4 avoided a satelite crash yesterday, and … there are many ways of saying thank you!! Ah, Sask, what it would be of a pleasure to have a coffee with you one day. Don’t ever think the receipts are not interesting, too. Just that I really doubt you wrote the stuff. really doesn’t look your style. Put a secretary to pompously fill up your synthetic message with … great explanations? They are worth the while: and means that at least you have managed to crack the picture engine much quicker than me?? Now, best wishes. (Ah, is a little dark your site. What do you think about changing the intentional blinking of phosphorescent genial ideas into a more ordered and coherent whole, that gives light, … through darkness, and not the other way round?)

I really doubt you know about cooking much more than to prepare fried eggs. Should though enjoy a good green pepper steack, hm? Was told you had some conversation this morning with Natascha, who sends her regards, too, the polar bear!

Sometimes I get the urge to make something a little more special than the ordinary dinner… today was one of those days. In southern Italy (or so I read), they make this fantastic dish using groper (or sea bass) by searing the fish in some olive oil, pile on this mixture of diced tomatoes, onions, some garlic and basil, and then stick it into the oven to finish. I routinely substitute grain-fed chicken breast in this dish. The prep time takes a while if you’re working without a food processor (like me) but it’s good practice for your knife skill. Really easy dish to make and the flavours are fanastic… it’ll impress most guests you bring home. Instead of spending the usual 30 minutes to make dinner tonight, I ended up spending an hour. Oh well, it was a nice, long and enjoyable dinner. In the picture you’ll also see some pasta: mini seashell pasta with a roated garlic, mushroom tomatoe sauce… pre-made, not by me of course because it’ll take too long! And a romaine lettuce salad.

To finish up with this most interesting encounter with aleatory thought, I will have to point out something: WP manager asks why the stats show such low reception of the general public. This has a very easy explanation: it all started with the cooking category and I had made a ‘tips’ category. Thus, my tips were received accidentally by a woman who had opened the same tag in order to put all her grand mothers and mothers indications in a safe place, and started receiving my elegant propositions, without her knowing where they were coming from. Enthousiastic, she spread comments all over Alabama, Kentucky and Mississippi and finally someone asked where she had all this wisdom from. She answered she received it in her tag surfer mail box, and although hundreds and hundreds of fans tried to get the same privileged information through the same way, studying with greatest interest most intelligent posts and articles and even letting fall some bitter comments on nowadays vanity and someone’s pretension, they never could. They went even to suspect that my first admiror had some kind of direct link to WordPress and was just faking she became the information from somewhere else. Finally, almost vanished under so many suspicions, the admiror in question finished by kindly requesting from WordPress, how the whole did finally work. Inspired answer:  with thousand bows, and asking kindly for pardon … we really don’t know ourselves!

What is an Espresso? We will get both technical and philosophical in this article.

What is an Espresso? Technically speaking:

A single shot of Espresso requires 1/4 ounce (7grams) of finely ground coffee to be tightly packed (tamped) into a filter holder so that hot water (not-quite-boiling water) between 195F and 205F or 88C and 92C). This water is forced through the tamped coffee grounds under at least 9bar of pressure (at least 130PSI). It will take 20 to 30 seconds to extract exactly one fluid ounce (30ml) of the richly aromatic and flavorful espresso coffee.

What is an Espresso? Philosophically speaking:

As we all know Espresso is Italian in origin. Loosely translated, Espresso means a cup of coffee brewed expressly for you.

Francesco Illy calls Espresso “a romantic, remarkably aromatic, and complex liquid. It is at once a solution of sugars, caffeine, acids, and proteins; a suspension of tiny particles of coffee beans and minute bubbles of gas; an emulsion of oils and colloids….all concentrated into a small volume and covered with a light, brown-colored foam known as crema”.

What is an Espresso? What does it look like:

Espresso should dribble from your group (handle with basket) in a thick brown-honey colored stream displaying with the viscousity of warm honey. In the trade it is described as the tail of the mouse for the way it curves from the group an falls into the wait demitasse cup. This is true Espresso. Not the watery coffee that many of us get served.

What is an Espresso? What does it smell like:

The Espresso should have a rich aromatic smell that fills the room. This is helped by using the freshest beans. The particular smell will depend on the beans and the roast. But once you have experienced that fresh coffee smell, there is no mistaking it when someone is brewing a fresh Espresso.

What is an Espresso? It’s a sensory invasion.

One more thing, the word is pronounced Es-press-o. Not X-press-o. Xpresso is more likely to be our poor attempt at asking an Italian for details about the xpresso train that runs straight into the heart of Rome/Florence/??? without many stops….

What’s Crema I hear you ask? Well, crema is that wonderful creamy almond colored foam that is produced when making a great Espresso. The crema sits on the surface of the Espresso. It is actually the rich flavorsome oils that where trapped within the coffee beans. These oils rise to the surface of the Espresso creating a rich foamy texture. But be aware that this crema will not remain for long. So, if you are serving straight Espresso to people, a quick delivery to your guests, once the Espresso has brewed is recommended.

So there you have it. Espresso by the numbers and Espresso by the senses.

Can’t help it, really … but ‘aural serendipity’ is really far, far too beautiful… If others have the same love and experience the same lust in making up words, just have a look. It’s worth the while …

 Waking Up

I’ve been waking up early lately.  So I can write, so I can listen, so there is quiet.  I’ve been drafting and revising poetry today.  A little old, a little new.  I’ll post a little later.  For now, though, I wanted to share an old friend.  His name is Chris Jacob and his photographs and songs were once my muse.  Go to the bio section of his website and you can link to his myspace and sink into aural serendipity.  Good stuff, good stuff.

So, as I said, I’ve spent the morning revising old work and writing new stuff.  I ran across a little thing from a life ago and was jiggling the words around a little, and I’ve been cranking out a few newer ones.  Just now the house filled with a strange, sweet scent.  The upstairs neighbor is baking.  So, I’ll post an older one, I guess. 

In search of

I woke when the fat Sunday paper
slapped against the door jamb.
I stared at it thru pressed
glass and asked if it knew

of you.  Pull back the wrapper
just like I pushed up your sleeves
to check your veins once.

You weren’t front page news
no need to look there -
and the police beat is clear.
Another day, no word.

Although it was a quite adventurous day, I must say, where the most inimaginable stories crashed in the most unbelievable ways, I must say that it is almost the happiest day of my life! (The happiest is still to come…)

Don’t know how finally google boy cracked under the awakening pressure of human insistance to take away notoriety from unknown people and give it back to our beloved? The following reconstruction was finally accepted as the official version of the story, and if things did coincidentally happen like that, we may say that it is just ‘a happy accident.’

All started with Ms Salazar uncongruous idea to have the little text in her page be translated. Her devoted brother, Diego (yes, engineer in computering), though much in knowledge with the belly of the machine had little idea of translations and very conspicuous, thought they would know in an internet café. Decided to fullfill her sister’s wish, he stepped into an internet café, asked with rosen eyebrow whether he may eventually get the translation through internet, was immediately answered, ‘but of course, in google‘, and further informed about the steps to do in order to obtain the desired result. Quite happy he sat down, copied the text he wanted to translate and introduced it with care into the space forseen for this.

Happened though the following: WordPress, also quite suspicious about copying possibilities, followed the movement with detail and not knowing in which bizarre UFO the text had landed, started a pulling and shifting in order to get the text out of there. As Google’s millions of megabytes where though infinitely much stronger than poor little WP arm strength, Google finished up by swallowing the whole page, without WP being able to do absolutely anything in order to save the little darling from drowning in the wale’s stomach. In the meantime, Diego, quite surprised of the fact that Google (this enormous machine and invention) took such a long time in order to translate such a short text, started thinking of taking up smoking again, spent a few thoughts on internet owner’s ability to get the money out of the customer’s pocket by giving such a misleading information (oh! it’s very quick, he had been told), felt generally deceived as all his admiration on the performance’s ability of Google was blown by the wind, and waited and waited.

Without him being the slightest aware of it, he was about to be suspected of international comercial terrorism and even of dirty and agressive concurrence probably payed by WordPress, while an orange light went up in WP headquarters. The guy, who usually had absolutely nothing to do but to keep his eye on the possibility the light in question could get on, thing that had never happened, so that he usually spent his time reading comics (this is socially correct!) and other most interesting and highly informative revues, saw his deep meditation suddenly interrupted by the light’s insisting blinking. All of a sudden he remembered all his lessons taken during University in Yale and else where, and started a deep and exhaustive analysis of the situation, whose exact contents we would be unable to reproduce. After an eternity, as it seemed to him, he decidedly made his way up the WP manager’s office, thing he had never done before either and that made him feel a little uneasy, as little used to shining and blundering decor. He mastered his feelings though heroically and telling the secretary it was of highest importance he walked into the office without waiting for an answer. There he was with WP Manager staring at him as if he had seen the devil, so that he just said: “Sir, google is stealing our stream.” (You always say Sir in such situations, even if it is a woman, because it is always men who are supposed to deal with difficult situations.) GM didn’t understand anything about the story, became though a little pale, and politely asked: “Which means?” “The server’s stream, that is usually put on our account, has been eaten up by Google. I have made all the necessary researches and I have proofs, definite and irreversible.” That’s it, GM thought, we are under attack, and although having little hope her request being immediately answered to, she phoned to Google at once and asked for the GM. The secretary luckily understood ‘Worldpress’ and gave her further without any other question. A strange exchange of peaked voices, shouts and yellings was heard from far (secretaries report though they are not absolutely reliable as they show a certain tendency to exagerate).

In the meantime, Diego was still waiting for his translation. Some say, he finally fell into the temptation of smoking his cigarette. Others though, maintain stubbornly the contrary.

“Now,” Google GM said, “we may be perhaps not as quick as you are, Ms Worldpress, but we are just investigating a case of dirty spamming that has blocked all our translation service for 3 hours now! And we deeply suspect that it is someone belonging to your company who has done the thing. Now, if you are attacking me in order to make me forget all your misbehaviours, don’t ever think it will work. Never in the world!” And hang up very nervously.

GM saw all her frustrations deriving from the fact that fat companies did never listen, and even less to a woman, even, yes even if there were so many evidences and proofs with stats and figures and incredible words accompanying the same on the table, come up again and started crying. Not knowing that Google GM, slightly terrorized as he got all of a sudden aware of the meaning of the words he had heard and not considered in his excitement, had already given 7 orders to people in confidence in order to find a link and bridge to WP and try to solve the problem in a diplomatic way. As he knew he was in knowledge of nothing he immediately thought: “we’re infiltered.” Someone was trying to create great dammage to Google by attacking WP with their identity. Shocked by the possibility of such a thing happening, he immediately thought of an alliance with WP to punish, if ever found, the criminal in the worst of ways.

Although such voices were heard in the nearest environment of WP manager, this one, as still drinking her tears without tissue, would not hear it.

The problem was as usually, accidentally solved by me. By putting the adress of the translation on the page, all the currents and streams absorbed beforehand by Google, were again driven to WordPress with the very surprising effect that it started stealing Google’s figures without anyone being the slightest aware of it.

Licenciada Sandra Salazar embraced her brother for what seemed to her a birth day present and went to sleep as happily as she hadn’t for many years.

Were it not enough, an internet hooligan started to put a WordPress page as screen everywhere, and as it was an internet café, it started to seriously destabilize the german company’s balances as it stayed on for hours and hours.

Revolts were announced in the suburbs of Islamabad, Pakistan, at the same time than thousands and thousands of letters of complaint coming from a singular group called ‘the last of Alabama’ suspecting that Google was not seriously taking into consideration their contributions to the revealing of aleatory logic, was irrupting through the feedback nail in WP headquarter offices.

Finally, even the Pentagone was asked for advice, as being suspected of neutrality in matters of Computering and thus able to solve such a difficult question by detecting the origin of the trouble. While protestations were growing, Google GM was about to give in and put my name on first rank if needed by cheating and without paying, when extremely angry voices coming from Germany and France reminded of the fact that all had to happen under the most reliable criteria of scientific exactness and that cheating would cause trouble in the obtaining of results.

Google Manager felt a horrible sadness, born from the evidence that the world did leave little place to little gangsters and internet hooligans and on top of this, his was from Alabama, but could not but give in to the evident pressures. Revolts though started to spring over to Mississippi and Kentucky, and semed to be lurking around New York quarters. The Army was alerted, as you could never know. Google GM looked out of the window, saw an immense raw of immense buildings, thought for a while that day could end up badly and told all his sorrow to a by passing coffee servant. Accidentally the coffee servant was friends with the cousin of someone married to someone working at WordPress, and couldn’t but tell her the news and almost shriking and most colorful tones. This one made some kind of rational synthesis of the whole and went in to WP manager who had just finished wiping up her tears away although she still looked quite un-made-up, so that the vice manager immediately concluded to a broken heart affair and said:”Sorry to interrupt you in these difficult moments, but there is something perhaps urgent that might be solved.” WP manager was thus largely informed and conscious of the fact that same pressures would be done on her, she thought of a subterfuge: she called aunt’s nephew Charles in research engine alpha and told him, please to do something at once. Charles didn’t understand very much about the story but just put some tags on his own computer using yes, his own research engine, and … was very surprised to discover that he could find something with it. What he didn’t know though, was that Google immediately acknowledged more general acknowledgement coming from such a serious establishment, and spammed his own screen with 6 or 7 mentionings of my name.

While German and French were still toasting celebrating their conviction that it was impossible to break aleatory logic, Google GM bursted out laughing when coincidentally he went on the reserach, too of …. the trouble maker in question and discovered an infinite amount of appearances with the best references on his computer. He … didn’t say anything and thought it must have been … a coincidence.

Marginal whispering voices do indicate that their may seriously exist the possibility of a flirt between Google and WordPress managers, although some other laugh on misinterpretation of a comercial agreement. As we are nor further in knowledge, we abstain ourselves of taking any positioning whatsoever.

CONCLUSION: to break aleatory logic means … to take into consideration human’s aleatory behaviour …too!!!

Google boy, you’ll really make me famous…

As a proof that I’m NOT boasting (well, I do, but with real facts, non boasting people do usually not show, as clearly indicated by WordPress itself, keeping them so well hidden, that most of us do yet not know they exist!), I do scotch the copied elements of the page itself said ‘blog stats’, so that they are really but really absolutely sure that I’m not inventing anything (the blog has some problems to take this information, so that it may happen that it is not complete).

Now, please have a look at the most hilarious blog I’ve ever seen “translate.google.com/translate?hl=es&…”, if it appears, though it may not. If it does not, I will copy the adress after. I do deeply suspect director of bgcentroestudios licenciada Sandra Salazar to be at the origin of such a disaster, as I wrote a comment in English on my page about the school, and … she doesn’t speak a word of English. Consequently, (instead of simply asking me, but why make it simple if you can cause an international disaster) she asked her brother Diego, ingeneer, to find the way to translate it, and he, apparently put the text into a google translator (no really, we haven’t done it on purpose), which, enthousiastic with all my propositions did … translate the whole page with extraordinary results! (If you want to laugh.) Were it perhaps to point out that … computerized translations are really, but really not as good as personal translations, and show at least one field where the human intelligence is evidently much better than a computer! If you thus have notions of Spanish, please have a look, it is too funny …
